Annual play starts holiday student break

A little thing like your horns trying to fall off doesn’t even slow down the ‘dancing reindeer’ (L-R) Oscar Medina, Koy Bleeker, Da’Milez Scott (under Koy’s arm), Aaron Oertli and Chris Reyes. A little thing like your horns trying to fall off doesn’t even slow down the ‘dancing reindeer’ (L-R) Oscar Medina, Koy Bleeker, Da’Milez Scott (under Koy’s arm), Aaron Oertli and Chris Reyes. The only thing wrong with Thursday’s Second Grade Christmas Variety Show was its effect on some of the parents among the crowd of 250 as they filed out of the elementary cafetorium.

“They can sing better than I can and they can sure dance better than I can,” was heard more than once as family members went though the doors, earto ear smiles on their faces.

The entire second grade participated in the show, which served as the official send-off to the holiday break which began the next day.

Segments included “The Dancing Reindeer”, “My Two Front Teeth”, “The Jingle Bell Rockers”, “The Andrews Sisters”, “The Rockdale Rockettes”, “The Hip Hop Reindeer” and “Christmas Is.”

At right, Apologies to the Andrews Sisters but they were never as cute as (L-R) Hailey Bangert, Maddy Moody and Sameria High who impersonated the 1940’s CERTI FIED legends during Thursday’s program. Of course the play had an angel as Jessa Cleveland, above, participates in the “Christmas Is” finale as costumed second graders came together to portray all aspects of the Christmas holiday season. At left, it’s back to the ‘50s for dancers (L-R) Lexi Baggerly, Whitley Boyd, Miranda Martinez, Payton Miller and Angel Hollan. At left, it’s back to the ‘50s for dancers (L-R) Lexi Baggerly, Whitley Boyd, Miranda Martinez, Payton Miller and Angel Hollan.
