‘Prosperity’ here shown by our work together

The last week of 2009. It is hard to believe that we have gone through another year and we are now entering a new decade.

It just seems like yesterday everyone was worried about the year 2000 coming and what would it bring. Well, of course, we all know in looking back that nothing changed and we started 2000 where 1999 left off.

But we can’t help wondering what the new year will bring and this year is no different. 2010 — Will this be a banner year or will it be status quo? What will happen this year only time will tell. But I can tell you this: this town will continue to prosper because of the community spirit that we have and our desire to work together.

We want it to be a good town and we want our citizens to do well. Because of this caring spirit Rockdale will prosper. We support each other and we take care of each other. And that is quite a positive in the scheme of things.

So as we head into the new year let’s do it with the attitude of “Yes we can.” When all is said and done, attitude is much of the driving force anyway.

So looking back on the months of 2009 and as a new year starts we can recall the good times we’ve had and what they meant to us. We can look back on good and bad and know that what really matters is the people we have worked with and worked for, the ones we have helped and those who have helped us. We are blessed.

New Year’s Eve dance

The Chamber is making our plans for our first annual New Year’s Eve Dance this Thursday at the KC Hall. Call the Chamber for your tickets and get in on the fun as we ring in 2010 together.

Tickets are $125 and include a catered meal for two, 8 drink coupons and party favors plus a night of good fun with friends.

Come celebrate with us as we are entertained by Roman Holiday, a band out of Austin. They specialize in 80’s music but will perform a variety of all kinds of music.

See you at the KC Hall on New Year’s Eve.

Until next time I leave you with this:

May peace fill your heart

And may contentment fill your life.

May comfort be yours,

And may the coming year show you that every day is really a first day, a new year.

May happiness be near you always.

Happy New Year!
