LETTERS TO THE EDITORThanks for feature on Vincent Van Gogh
I enjoyed the article on Vincent Van Gogh in The Reporter last week (Dec. 17).
That song “Vincent”, by Don McLean written as a tribute to Vincent van Gogh, is a favorite of mine.
I could listen to “Starry, Starry Night” for a long time without turning the sound down.
The song has so much meaning, especially after hearing or reading of the life of Van Gogh.
Thanks again for the memory! Van Gogh was truly a unique personality and painter.

D.A. says all info is ‘public record’
I have never written a letter to the editor but an article in last week’s paper deserves response.
The County and District Attorney’s office is not required by law to provide the local media with press releases regarding Grand Jury activities or dispositions in district court. This service has always been a courtesy given by our office.
My administrative assistant Kathryn Skubal works extremely hard to get this information out to the news media the day after Grand Jur y even though the newspaper deadlines are the following week.
As the local news media should know, this information is public record and can be obtained by anyone at the Milam County District Clerk’s office located in the courthouse.
The Reporter could have easily obtained this information before their deadline. I will not apologize for spending vacation time with my family over the holidays or for allowing my staff to do the same.
