Kiesling

Services for Delma “Sloppy” Kiesling, 86, of Thorndale were held Tuesday, Dec. 29, 2009, at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Thorndale with Rev. James Mann officiating. Burial was in St. Paul Lutheran Cemetery.

Mr. Kiesling died Thursday, Dec. 24, in Rockdale.

He was born Nov. 30, 1923, in Thorndale to Edwin and Frances (Runge) Kiesling.

He married Doris Niemtschk on Oct. 14, 1948, in Thorndale.

Mr. Kiesling was a lifelong Thorndale resident, a member of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Thorndale and a graduate of Thorndale High School.

Mr. Kiesling worked at Alcoa’s Rockdale Operations for 32 years, retiring in 1986 as a supervisor.

He was a longtime member of Thorndale School Board, serving as president from 1967-69.

He was a former president of St. Paul Lutheran Congregation.

Mr. Kiesling was a longtime supporter of Thorndale Little League baseball and was an honorary association member of Thorndale Volunteer Fire Department.

He was preceded in death by his parents; two brothers, Gilbert and Eldred Kiesling; and a sister, Rose Marie Kiesling.

Survivors are his wife, Doris Kiesling of Thorndale; four sons, Preston Kiesling and wife Linda of Frisco, Keith Kiesling and wife Sharen of Thorndale, Allen Kiesling and wife Sandra of Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates, Kevin Kiesling and wife Carrie of Thorndale; a daughter, Darnell Leschber and husband Dennis of Caldwell; a brother, Edwin K. Kiesling and wife Edna of Austin; sisters and brothers-in-law, Elyne Lehman, Irene Schoreder and husband Gilbert, Eugene Niemtschk and wife Erma, and Viola Niemtschk, all of Thorndale, Eldon “Shorty” Niemtschk and wife Julia and Wallie Kiesling, all of Taylor, Lavohn Kiesling of Arlington; 12 grandchildren, Clay Kiesling, Troy Kiesling, Brian Leschber, Kevin Kiesling, Angela Scruggs, Jeffrey Kiesling, Kyle Kiesling, Jennifer Annoot, Lukas Kiesling, Jacob Kiesling, Chase Kiesling and Ashton Kiesling; and five great-grandchildren, Kandence, Jace, Kamryn, Tiffany and Braydon; also, many nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were David K iesling, Ken K iesling, Dennis Schroeder, Ronnie Lehman, Russell Niemtschk and Stephen Niemtschk.

Memorials may be made to the general fund of St. Paul Lutheran Church in Thorndale.
