CAMERON—Funeral services for Cruz Reyes, 83, of Cameron will be held at 11 a.m. Thursday, Dec. 31, 2009, at Marek-Burns- Laywell Funeral Home with Rev. Moises Vaca officiating. Burial will follow in Hernandez Cemetery.

A prayer service will be held at 7 p.m. Wednesday, Dec. 30, at the funeral home.

Mr. Reyes died Monday, Dec. 28, in a Cameron hospital.

He was born Sept. 14, 1926, in Yarrellton to Condolario and Adela (Rodriguez) Reyes.

Mr. Reyes was employed by the City of Cameron for over 41 years.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 48 years, Basilia; a son, Ruben; three brothers, Miguel, Pedro, Geronimo; and three sisters, Angela Amaya, Victoria Bermudez and Lencha Molina.

Survivors include five sons, Cruz Reyes Jr. and wife Helen, Jesse Reyes and wife Debbie, Joe Reyes, all of Cameron, George Reyes of Temple, Jimmy Reyes of Bryan; seven daughters, Helen Reyes, Basilia Nelson and husband John, Martha Rios and husband Merced, all of Cameron, Milli Mendoza and husband Manuel of Pettibone, Esther Perry and husband Ed of Stockbridge, Georgia, Delia Eicke and husband Rock of Moody, Mary Christopher and husband Ted of Llano; four brothers, Lupe Ortiz, Terry Ortiz, Julian Ortiz and wife Rosa, all of El Campo, Isabel Ortiz and wife Rosa of Victoria; and six sisters, Carmen Zavala and husband Manuel of Lubbock, Juanita Diaz, Mary Gauardo and husband Andres, all of El Campo, Natalie Ortiz of Webster, Carmen Torres and husband Manuel of Richmond, Suzy Mercardo and husband Roberto of Pecan Grove; also, 21 grandchildren and 20 great-grandchildren.
