Milam County has supported human habitation for at least 10,000 years. Prehistoric habitants were thought to have been Tonkawa Indians. Full Story

New state mandate: Cigarettes must be ‘fire-safe’
AUSTIN — A new law that went into effect Jan. 1 mandates that only “fire-safe” cigarettes — marked as FSC for “fire standard compliant” — can be sold in Texas. Fire-safe cigarettes are designed to go out when they are not being actively smoked, reducing the risk of an accidental fire. Full Story
