Voters to fill city council spot Saturday

West ward voters in the City of Rockdale will go to the polls Saturday to select a new city councilman in a rare January city election.

There’s one name on the ballot, Doug Calame, and Donald “Duck” Shuffield is a write-in candidate for the vacancy which has existed since Griffin Rogers was removed from office in September.

Early voting ended Tuesday with only xx votes recorded.

Election hours Saturday at City Hall are 7 a.m. to 7 p.m.

Only west ward voters inside the City of Rockdale will participate in the election. Check the back of your voter registration card. If it says “RKDW” under the box labeled “city” you can vote in this election.

Voters are reminded they must use the new blue voter registration card.

The orange cards which were used during most of the early voting period expired on Dec. 31, 2009.
