Freezing temps make her glad to live in Texas

The freezing temperatures last week were definitely a good time to stay in and stay warm.

I used to live in New Jersey and it was always cold there so I am reminded why I chose to live in a (usually) warm climate.

Thank goodness the cold only lasted for a short time but it was long enough for me and I won’t mind if it doesn’t come back for a while.

January is in full swing and we are getting ready for some eventful activities.

Wednesday Jan. 20 is the Marketing Seminar held at the Patterson Center and sponsored by the Rockdale Downtown Association. This is a free seminar where you will find hundreds of ideas to help you make more money and how to market your town effectively.

The meeting is from 9 a.m. to 12-noon. There will be a complimentary lunch but call Toby Johnson at 446-6421 to sign up for that. It will be a great opportunity to get pointers on how to make your business better.

Ribbon cuttings

We had a ribbon cutting for Trade Resources, located in downtown Rockdale. Trade Resources will be the place to call if you are looking for a job or if you are looking for employees. Call them at 512- 446-3378 and talk to Bobby Janes.

We also had a ribbon cutting for Don Hughes Agency-Nationwide Insurance in their new location on Ackerman Street, across from the Post Office. Go in for your insurance needs or call them at 446-0044.

Annual meeting

On Thursday, Jan. 28 we are having the Chamber Annual Meeting at the Patterson Center at 12-noon.

We welcome any members and perspective members to our meeting and come for lunch.

See you there.

Until next time I leave you with this: The hardest thing in life to learn is which bridge to cross and which to burn.
