Calame rolls to easy special election victory
Doug Calame rolled up an easy victory Saturday to win the remainder of an unexpired term on the Rockdale City Council.
Calame, the only candidate on the ballot, drew 139 votes. Write-in candidate Donald “Duck” Shuffield, drew 27. That’s an 84-percent to 16-percent margin. Full Story

Lagging tax payments force council to eye budget

Rockda le recorded 33 .58 inches of precipitation in 2009, almost exactly the town’s historic average of 33.86 inches.

Area closings announced for MLK Day
Monday is the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. holiday in Rockdale and throughout the nation.
There are no classes in the Rockdale, Milano, Gause or Thorndale ISDs but teachers have staff training days in Milano, Thorndale and Gause.
All financial institutions will be closed. City Hall will be closed but there will be garbage pickup on schedule Monday and all through next week.
