Rockdale family hurt in Hearne fatal accident

Three members of a Rockdale family remained in Scott & White Hospital, Temple, Thursday after a two-vehicle highway collision on US 79 near the Hearne city limits Wednesday evening which killed the other driver.

Jennifer Strelsky, 37, and her two children—16-year-old Katie ad 12-year-old Dustin—were sustained numerous injuries, according to a family spokesperson.

Dustin Strelsky, the most seriously injured, sustained a head injury, a broken jaw and perhaps other internal injuries and underwent surgery.

Katie Strelsky had “numerous broken bones in both arms,” according to the family.

Jennifer Strelsky also had broken bones, plus a collapsed lung, which was re-inflated at the hospital.

The Robertson County Department of Public Safety said a westbound pickup driven by 73-year-old Tracy Tidwell of Jacksonville apparently crossed the center stripe and struck the eastbound Strelsky car.

Tidwell was pronounced dead at the scene at 7:19 p.m. by Precinct 2 Justice of the Peace Ramona Aguirre.

Location of the accident was near the US 79-FM 50 intersection just outside the eastern Hearne city limits.
