Gasoline suppliers drive people to TaylorDear editor,
Sometimes, but not always, people are not as dumb as the politicians and commercial monopolies think they are.
Last week’s paper indicated that Rockdale has lost 21 percent in sales tax rebates, and Taylor has lost only .4 percent.
Most of us have realized that gasoline is 15 to 25 cents cheaper in Taylor, and that’s only about 25 miles away.
Taylor has some nice stores and restaurants. It doesn’t take long to get there and the savings in gasoline is enough to buy a good hamburger.
Of course, the gasoline distributers could care less that people are not shopping Rockdale because the distributers have a tight monopoly here in Rockdale and charge more than almost anywhere.
Respectfully, Jay Brown 901 Allday Street Rockdale
