Luminarias, ‘angels’ to aid Relay For Life

Dear editor,

It’s time to start thinking about Relay For Life again here in Milam County.

As Luminaria chair for the 2010 RFL that will be held April 16-17, I know that we all want to honor our cancer survivors and also the wonderful people we have known and loved that have lost their battle to this dreaded disease, cancer.

This year we are going to try something a bit different in that we are going to try and get luminarias honoring, or in memory of someone, from every state.

Please help us achieve our goal.

I understand that all of us here in Milam County have been financially affected by things that have happened in our community.

But cancer just doesn’t stop and we have got to find a way to cure this disease. Anything that you can donate may be just what is needed for this disease to be cured.

Honoring our people with a luminaria that will be lit in their memory/honor during the Relay ceremony at Tiger Field is just one way to support the RFL.

We are all in this together as everyone has lost someone to this disease.

In addition to the luminarias there is a “Relay Angel” observance which is for anyone—to honor a caregiver, teacher, mom or dad, friend, child, brother sister, grandparent.

These are for those people that we truly think are “angels” in our everyday life.

It is easy to do. There will be luminaria and Relay Angel forms at different places around the community.

Forms are presently at The Rockdale Reporter, Rockdale Signs Unlimited and the Chamber of Commerce.

They are $5 each or you can all me at 446-5298.

There are so many volunteer oppor tunities for the Milam County RFL. Get involved!
