GOP ‘whistle-stop’ tour will introduce Milam candidates

The Republican Party of Milam County would like to invite the people of Milam County to come out and join us on February 11th, for our first ever Milam County Republican “Whistle-Stop” Tour on Feb. 11.

The Whistle Stop Tour will showcase Republican candidates as they travel throughout Milam County to meet the voters.

All of the national, state and local Republican candidates that will appear on the March 2 ballot have been invited, said Bill Whitmire, Milam GOP chair. “So far the reception has been positive,” Whitmire said.

The tour will start at 1 p.m. at the Thorndale Chamber of Commerce.

At 2:30 p.m. the candidates will meet with the locals in Rockdale at the New Salem Building in Fairpark.

From there, candidates will move on to Cameron for a 4 p.m. meeting with the public at Bea’s Kitchen.

“At each stop the public will

have the opportunity to meet and speak with the candidates,” Whitmire said. “Everyone

is welcome and encouraged to attend.”

Following the stop in Cameron, many of the candidates will head just outside of Cameron to the 44 Farms for the “Meet the Candidates” Dinner and Fundraiser to benefit the Republican Women of Milam County.

This Fundraiser will be a ticketed event to aid the Republican Women of Milam County as they work to raise money to help the largest field of Republican candidates Milam County has ever fielded, Whitmire said.

“We are working hard to build a solid Republican Party here that is built on the true conservative values and beliefs of the people who live and work here,” he said. “As a result of the hard work of many Milam County Conservatives, we will have a 2010 primary ballot with seven Milam County Republicans running for six places on the ballot. In a county that has rarely, if ever, had more than two local Republicans on the same ballot, the Republican Party of Milam County is turning heads in Milam County, and in Central Texas.”
