Chamber hits record number of membersWhat a busy January we had — 2010 has started with a bang!
The new board was introduced with our new directors: Wallace Jones, Hunter Matula, Michelle Morgan, Joyce Ford, and Debra Burrough.
Returning board members included Mitul Patel, Debra Jackson, Deedra Jacob, Michelle Lehmkuhl, Chris Dyess, Chairman Cody Caldwell, Incoming Chair Cindy Jerman, and Treasurer Becky Marek.
We have a good board and they are interested in making Rockdale and the Chamber better. Thank you to all who are willing to serve.
We had 279 Chamber members in 2009 and we have added four new members in 2010 for a total of 283, an all-time high for Chamber membership.
It is a pleasure and an honor to have these businesses, organizations and individuals as members of the Chamber as we all unite to work together.
If you would like more information about the Rockdale Chamber of Commerce call us at 512-446-2030. There are many opportunities and we welcome you.
The Chamber banquet is scheduled for March 25 and plans are underway for this big event. This is always a good time to honor those special people who mean so much to our town, those who have gotten us where we are today.
Also we will soon be taking bids for the meal. If you are interested in submitting a bid call the Chamber.
We are also taking reservations for the gold and silver tables. Please let us know if you would like to reserve a table.
Tejas Fest preparation
The 4th Annual Tejas Art and Book Festival is fast approaching. March 5-6 is the weekend and it promises to be a fun time.
On Friday March 5 some of the authors will be in Rockdale to talk to the school students about writing a book and what goes into it. So good for our students to actually be able to ask questions of authors.
And then on Saturday, the big day starts at 9 a.m. with much activity that continues throughout the day. The Downtown Association’s Car Show, the activities at the Depot, authors in the library, artists on Wolf Park, food and entertainment all around town. It will be a great day in Rockdale, Texas.
Until next time I leave you with this: Tell a man there are 300 billion stars in the universe and he’ll believe you. Tell him a bench has wet paint on it and he’ll have to touch to be sure.
