Chamber seeks nominees for awards
The Rockdale Chamber of Commerce is now accepting nominations for awards to be presented at the March 25 banquet.
Deadline to submit a nomination is Feb. 21, according to Denice Doss, Chamber president.
The top four awards are:

GOP whistle-stop tour ahead on February 11
The Milam County Republican Party will host its first ever “Whistle Stop” Tour Thursday, Feb. 11.

One hurt in rollover
A 26-year-old Waco man was injured in a rollover accident on the US 77-79 exit ramp just before dawn Wednesday morning Feb. 3.
Police said Juan Olguin was taken to Richards Memorial Hospital by AMR ambulance personnel after the 5:47 a.m. accident near the Regency Inn.
A passenger, 34-year-old Simon Gutierrez-Rocha, also of Waco, was not injured, police said. Full Story

‘Downtown’ car show set March 6
Rockdale Downtown Association’s Auto and Cycle Show will be held March 6, according to Bernie Finley, organizer.
Entry fee is $20 and no preregistration is required. Registration will be held from 8 to 10 a.m. and the show will be held from 10 to 2:30.

‘Practice’ voting machine offered
A “practice” electronic voting machine is now available to the public at the Milam County Clerk’s office in Cameron.
“We’ve offered this in previous years before elections,” County Clerk Barbara Vansa said. “Anyone who wants to familiarize themselves with how a voting machine works is welcome to come by. Full Story
Monday first filing day for city, school, RHD
Monday, Feb. 8 is the first filing day for candidates in May 8 school, city and special district elections.
Terms of 10 officials, including Rockdale’s mayor and school board president are expiring in 2010.
First filing day is technically Feb. 6 but that falls on a Saturday. Full Story
City will flush water lines February 10th
City crews will flush water lines the evening of Feb. 10 on the town’s east and west sides, City Manager Kelvin Knauf said.
