Monday first filing day for city, school, RHD

Monday, Feb. 8 is the first filing day for candidates in May 8 school, city and special district elections.

Terms of 10 officials, including Rockdale’s mayor and school board president are expiring in 2010.

First filing day is technically Feb. 6 but that falls on a Saturday.

Filing is at City Hall (city), the Rockdale ISD Administration Building (school) and Richards Memorial Hospital (hospital board).

Deadline to file is 5 p.m. Monday, March 8.

Here are the terms expiring, and the incumbents in those offices:

City of Rockdale Mayor— John Shoemake East ward— J. T. Talley. West ward— Tom Fisher.

Rockdale ISD Place 3— Michelle Lehmkuhl.

Place 4— Lee Jenkins.

Place 5— James Birkhead (current board president).

Rockdale Hospital District

Place 1 (east ward)— Larry Jackson Sr.

Place 3 (west ward)— Carl Hudson.

At large— R ichard Burns, Mike Vance.
