Fikes Fikes Ser v ices for Emma Florene Kraatz Fikes, 92, of Rockdale were held Saturday, Jan. 30, 2010, in Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home with Rev. Jack Chelf of First Baptist Church officiating. Burial was in Sharp Cemetery in the Sharp community.

Mrs. Fikes d ie d We d ne sday, Jan. 27, in Manor Oaks Nursing Center in Rockdale.

She was born June 23, 1917, in the Sharp community to Ben and Bernice Elnora Presley Kraatz.

She married Franklin Fikes on Oct. 9, 1937, in Cameron.

Mrs. Fikes had been a Rockdale resident since 1983 and was formerly of Houston.

In Houston she worked as an elevator operator for Southern National Bank Medical Arts Building for 31 years. She was a greeter for Rockdale’s Walmart for 16 years.

Mrs. Fikes was a member of First Baptist Church in Rockdale.

She was preceded in death by her husband on Aug. 8, 1987; her parents; a son, Franklin Leland Fikes; three daughters, Flora Mae Roberts, Frances Davis and Faye Y. Seely; four sisters, Betty Lou White, Florence Roessler, Thelma Woodley and Gertie Lee Svetlik; a brother, Ben Kraatz; a grandson, Douglas Roberts; and a greatgrandson, Justin Dudenhoeffer.

Survivors are a son, Floyd Fikes of Houston; two brothers, Charles Kraatz of Houston, Gene Kraatz of California; five sisters, Lorene Wicker of Rockdale, Doris Kerbow and Lucille McCrummins, both of Commerce, Evelyn Taylor of Flower Mound, Mary Scott of Houston; 12 grandchildren, Lorna Dudenhoeffer and husband Scott, Connie Talley and husband Dana, Dana Hessley and husband Randy, Daniel, Marianne, Susie, Frankie, Eddie, Mark, Bobby, Gina and Martin; and 15 great-grandchildren, including Tyler Talley; also, numerous nieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Scott Dudenhoeffer, Dana Talley, Martin Fikes, Daniel Roberts, Jeffrey Scott and Ronnie McCrummins.
