RUSK—Funeral ser v ices for Tommie L. Currey Russell, 85, of Rusk were held Friday, Jan. 29, 2010, in Wallace-Thompson Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Wayne Thompson officiating. Interment was in E.L. Russell Cemetery in Rusk.

Mrs. Russell died Jan. 27, at her residence.

She was born Oct. 19, 1924, in Rockdale to Pete A. and Ruby E. Kelly Currey.

Mrs. Russell was a resident of Rusk for 66 years and a member, church clerk, and Sunday school teacher at Sovereign Grace Baptist Church in Rusk.

She retired from Rusk State Hospital in 1979 after 24½ years of service.

Mrs. Russell graduated from the Gaston School in Joinerville and attended Henderson County Junior College.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, James A. Russell Sr., on July 21, 2005; a son, James A. Russell Jr., on July 26, 2004; a brother, Lee A. Currey; a sister, Evelyn Sellar; and a sisterin law, Novelene Currey.

Survivors are a son and daughter in-law, Gregg P. and Brenda Russell of Rusk; two daughters and son-in-law, Laural and Mike Cunningham Sr., Ocie E. Russell all of Rusk; and a brother, Jim Currey of Rockdale; also, 10 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Michael Cunningham Jr., Michael Russell, Brendan Harper, Michael Cunningham Sr., Kenneth Vanderslice Jr. and Cody Russell.

Honorary pallbearers were Don Knight, Mike Currey and Larry Currey.
