SPORTS SHORTS 2nd annual baseball alumni game planned

After last year’s wildly successful debut, Rockdale baseball coach Jarad Richards is organizing another alumni scrimmage between any ex-baseball player from Rockdale High School and the 2010 Tiger varsity.

The scrimmage will be held on Saturday Feb. 13, but because of the large number of alumni responses last year, Richards is planning to have three alumni teams face the varsity in a fourteam tournament.

The first game will begin at 11 a.m., followed by games at 1 p.m., 3 p.m. and 5 p.m.

There w ill also be a home run derby prior to the scrimmage, which will be used as a fundraiser to help pay for hotel rooms for a weekend tournament in Fairfield.

Cost will be $10 for 10 cuts. You can also hand deliver your $10 fee for alumni shirts to the athletic secretary, Denise Betchan, at the fieldhouse.

Any person interested in playing in this scrimmage needs to contact Richards at (512) 924- 2220 or jrichards@rockdaleisd. net.
