GOP ‘whistle stop’ tour set Thursday
The Milam County Republican Party will host its first ever “Whistle-Stop” Tour Thursday with the public invited to meet candidates.
The tour will start at 1 p.m. at the Thorndale Chamber of Commerce.
At 2:30 p.m. GOP candidates will meet with the locals in Rockdale at the New Salem Building in Fair Park. Full Story
Clothing display begins
Saturday at museum
The Rockdale Historical Society’s display of historical women and children’s clothing goes on display Saturday in the I&GN Historical Depot.
Hours are 1 to 5 p.m.
The display includes clothing items worn from the late 1800s to 1930, loaned by Rockdale families. Full Story

Hightower featured at Tejas Festival
Former two-term Texas Agriculture Commissioner, and New York Times best-selling author, Jim Hightower, will appear at the fourth annual Tejas Art & Book Festival March 5-6.
Hightower broadcasts daily radio commentaries that are carried on more than 150 commercial and public stations, on the web, Armed Forces Radio and Radio for Peace International. Full Story
Auto, cycle show set for March 6th
The Rockdale Downtown Association’s Auto and Cycle Show will be held March 6, according to Bernie Finley, organizer.
Entry fee is $20 and no preregistration is required. Registration will be held from 8 to 10 a.m. and the show will be held from 10 to 2:30.
