Local hero

Anna Duncum Anna Duncum Our Local Hero this week is Anna Duncum.

Ms. Duncum recently appeared in The Rockdale Reporter with the photo of her on the front page of the business section with the wording, “A lot of experience...” She definitely has that and is so willing to share it along with ideas of how things should be done.

Through the years she has seen things that need to be done and not been afraid to make suggestions to that effect. She has made suggestions of traffic issues to then Rep. Dan Kubiak which resulted in a blinking light at FM 908 and US 77, suggestions to the water board, suggestions to the county about voting issues and others.

Many people are aware of problems but Ms. Anna goes further than that and makes suggestions. We all complain but giving a remedy is what makes the difference.

She is a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church, the Linwood Acres Garden Club and the Chamber Ambassadors. She was involved with helping the Blackjack VFD with their first building.

She has lived in Rockdale for 30 years and has been involved in the community in various ways. We appreciate Ms. Duncum for wanting to be a part of making our area better.

We also appreciate Love’s Flowers & Gifts and El Torito for the gifts they provide our Local Hero each week.

If you would like to nominate a local hero, those who work selflessly for our community, call the Chamber of Commerce at 446- 2030. This honor will be given to people who work hard to make our community better.—Denice Doss, Chamber president
