Domingo Llanas walks downtown in the heaviest part of the ‘Great Blizzard of 2010’ about noon Tuesday. According to the Texas Highway Department between 4 and 6 inches of snow fell in Milam County, making the ‘blizzard’ one for the ages, so far as Rockdale is concerned. A 7.5-inch snowfall Christmas week, 1929, is generally considered Rockdale’s record. The snow, sleet and icy driving conditions contributed to numerous highway accidents. Rockdale ISD dismissed school two hours early Tuesday and began two hours late on Wednesday.
