Turnout 25 percent; runoffs ahead

One in four eligible Milam County voters cast ballots in the 2010 Democratic and Republican primaries.

Sherry Mueck, county elections officer said 3,495 of the county’s 14,095 registered voters participated in the primaries.

That’s 24.8 percent.

Although the biggest GOP race, the Perr y-Hutchison-Medina contest for governor, did not produce a runoff, two down-ballot Republican races will need another ballot April 13.

In the race for Justice Supreme Court Place 3, four of six candidates were virtually tied with just under 19 percent each.

Marsha Farney and Brian Russell each polled 35 percent in a three-way race for State Board of Education, District 10, eliminating Rebecca Osborne with 29.
