Garden club plans outing Wednesday

Members of Linwood Acres Garden Club on Wednesday, March 10 will travel to the recycling center in College Station, visit the Holistic Gardens on the Texas A&M campus, and conclude their outing with lunch at the Madhatters in Caldwell.

Aggie Moms set bake sale here Saturday

Milam County Aggie Moms will hold a bake sale beginning at 8 a.m. Saturday, March 6 at Walmart in Rockdale. Proceeds will go to scholarships, according to Leslie Davidson, spokesperson.

Hospital Auxiliary announces scholarship

Richards Memorial Hospital Auxiliary will meet at noon Wednesday, March 3 from noon to 1 p.m. in the hospital conference room.

“This will be a brown bag lunch meeting and on the agenda will be upcoming spring events,” Sue Ohlswager, president, said.

“The auxiliary has also announced it will offer a college scholarship next fall to one graduating Rockdale High School student who plans on entering the medical field. Interested students may obtain a scholarship application form from the high school counselor.

Community plant exchange March 27

Linwood Acres Garden Club’s spring community plant exchange will be held Saturday morning, March 27 on the parking lot of the Rockdale Chamber of Commerce. A variety of cuttings, seedlings and plants will be available for free.

KC’s Lenten fish meals continue each Friday

Rockdale Knights of Columbus Council 7014 members are holding their annual Lenten fish fry meals each Friday through March 26 at the KC Hall.

Serving is from 5 to 7:30 p.m. or until sold out, according to Rodney Barcak, spokesman.

Plates include fried fish, homemade fries, hush puppies, “famous” KC slaw, green beans, tea and dessert. Plates are $8 and available for dine-in or take-out.

Heaven’s Highway Riders meet Tuesday in Caldwell

The Heaven’s Highway Riders, Chapter 893 of the Christian Motorcyclists Association, will hold their monthly meeting on Tuesday, March 9, at the Surrey Inn Restaurant in Caldwell.

Fellowship and meal will begin at 6 p.m. and the meeting at 7 p.m.

Christian Motorcyclists Association (CMA) is a worldwide interdenominational and evangelistic motorcycle ministry. The Caldwell chapter meets the second Tuesday of every month.

Linwood Acres Garden Club sponsors a scholarship each year to a graduating senior planning to major in horticulture, floriculture, environmental design, or any related field.

China Paint Club sets bake sale in Cameron

CAMERON—China Paint Club members met Feb. 25 and scheduled a bake sale near the Cameron post office Thursday, April 1, the beginning of the Easter weekend. Items will be offered on china plates hand painted by members.

Retired teachers to meet Thursday in Gause ISD

GAUSE—The Gause ISD will host the next meeting of the Milam County Retired Teachers Association at 12:45 p.m. Thursday, March 4. Retirees will be guests for lunch and a short program.

“This is the first time Gause has had the opportunity to host the RTA,” Carolyn Hafley, secretary, said. “Plans for building a high school in Gause are now being undertaken.”

4-H Shooting Sports holding fund-raiser

Milam County 4-H Shooting Sports Club members are selling chances for two different hunts as a fund-raiser, spokesperson Chris Cooper said.

Prizes include a $3,000 exotic water buffalo hunt, an exotic goat hunt and a $75 Academy gift card. Tickets are $10 each or six for $50. Drawing will be May 15.

Relay bake sale planned March 6

Relay For Life of Milam County will hold a bake sale on Saturday, March 6 during the Tejas Book Fest in Rockdale, according to Marie Bakken, communications chair.

The group will begin selling at 8:30 a.m. until sold out or noon at Antique Queens in downtown Rockdale. Proceeds will go to the annual American Cancer Society Relay For Life event set for April 16 at Tiger Field in Rockdale.

Canned good donations sought for RFL event

Relay For Life of Milam County are asking for donations of canned goods to use during the luminary ceremony of its April 16 event.

“After the ceremony we will donate them to food banks in Rockdale and Cameron,” event chair Trina Edwards said.

Drop off spots for donations are at The Rockdale Reporter and Curves in Cameron. Donations will be accepted until April 15.

Participants should sign up by March 15

All Relay For Life of Milam County participants who want to be assured a shirt must be registered by March 15, communications chair Marie Bakken said.
