Free throw woes bury Eagles in area
With a No. 23 state ranking and district championship in its dossier, Milano was expecting nothing less than a deep run into the postseason.
Those plans were unexpectedly cut short on Friday night as the Eagles lost a 42-40 thriller to Somerville in the area round of the Class A Division I playoffs at Rockdale’s Tiger Gymnasium. Full Story

Evadale prevents Lady Dogs’ fourth trip to regional
GROVETON—It was a treacherous mix of turno and missed free throws which constructed a roadblock between Thorndale and one of its coveted destinations.
After three straight trips to the regional tournament, the Lady Dogs’ season came to an end last Wednesday with a 4340 regional quarterfinals loss to the Evadale Lady Rebels at Groveton High School’s Indian Gym. Full Story

China Spring grabs inaugural Bell Rivals Softball Classic
Lady Tigers evensteven with 3-3 mark in tourney
A familiar softball foe had success in Rockdale over the weekend as China Spring conquered Cameron to capture the inaugural Bell Rivals Softball Classic.
Rockdale was 3-3 in tournament play.
The Lady Tigers are now 8-4 on the season heading into District 24-3A play hosting Cameron on Friday. Full Story

Last Monday, the Rockdale boys golf team traveled to Pebble Creek to compete at the Brenham Invitational.
Casey Burrough led the way with an 85; Tyler Wright 95; Lance Loewe 96; Garrett Korenek 103; Grant Galbreath 115.

With just one senior on its roster and hav ing graduated the starting pitcher and catcher from last season, the Milano Lady Eagles (2-6) softball team will have a youthful lineup this spring.

Milano’s Catalina earns
regional lifting spot
Milano senior Christin Catalina is headed to the Region II girls powerlifting championships Saturday at Elgin Middle School.
This is the first year for MHS to have a powerlifting team. Full Story
Golf tourney to raise funds for Rising Star construction
Rising Star Baptist Church has scheduled its annual Golf Classic at Blackhawk Golf Course, in Pflugerville, on Saturday, March 27, at 1 p.m.
A free barbecue meal for participants will start at 11:30 a.m. Prizes will include trophies for the winning team and individual trophies, eight free rounds of golf, and more. Full Story
King shooting for state in K of C free throw
FAYETTEVILLE—Kyle King of Milano advanced to the state meet in the Knights of Columbus free throw competition by winning at the regional level.
There were six other shooters in King’s division and two were tied for the lead with 20 made shots each when King came up to shoot. Full Story
