Milano’s Catalina earns regional lifting spot

Milano senior Christin Catalina is headed to the Region II girls powerlifting championships Saturday at Elgin Middle School.

This is the first year for MHS to have a powerlifting team.

Catalina and four of her teammates were inv ited to a last chance regional qualifiers meet where she posted a personal best 625-pound total.

She currently sits ninth in the regional standings in the 132 pound weight class and is tied for the top 1A qualifier.

If Catalina finishes as the top 1A female in her weight class, she will qualify for the State Powerlifting Meet to be held March 19-20 in Corpus Christi.

The regional meet w ill get underway at 9 a.m. at the new Elgin Middle School.
