Services for Carolyn Murphy Lewis, 81, of Bastrop, formerly of Rockdale, were held Friday, Feb. 26, 2010, at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home with Rev. Jack Chelf of First Baptist Church officiating. Burial was in I.O.O.F. Cemetery in Rockdale.

Mrs. Lewis died Tuesday, Feb. 23, in Bastrop.

She was born Feb. 6, 1929, in Aug usta, Maine, to Ronald Charles and Alma Erskine (McLellan) Murphy.

She married Arthur Eugene Lewis on Nov. 29, 1951, in Vinton, Louisiana.

Mrs. Lewis had worked with her husband in their heating and air conditioning business and was a homemaker.

She was a member of First Baptist Church in Rockdale.

Mrs. Lewis had been a Bastrop resident for the past five months and formerly lived in Rockdale for 17 years. She had previously lived in Gilmer and the Tyler area.

Mrs. Lewis was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Eugene Lewis, on Jan. 15, 1998.

Survivors are a son, Vic Lewis of Georgetown; three daughters, Jeannie Dubbel of Bastrop, Susan Conolly and husband Michael of Azle, Sandra Lewis and husband William Wilson of Austin; and four grandchildren, Andrew Dubbel and wife Samantha of Huntsville, Alabama, Geoffrey Dubbel and Laura Dubbel, both of Austin, Cozmo Lewis of Georgetown.

Pallbearers were Geoffrey Dubbel, Cozmo Lewis, Roston Pash, Vic Lewis, William Wilson and Buddy Hatcher.
