Stop of juvenile clears burglaries

Two burglaries were cleared after a Friday traffic stop when police found items in the vehicle.

Police Chief Thomas Harris said Ofc. Stephen Goodrich made the stop of a 14-year-old male juvenile and found the items during a routine inventory of the vehicle.

The case was turned over to juvenile authorities.

Arrests

Felony arrests during the past week included:

• Jennifer Lynn Jones, 38, Rockdale, arrested for bond forfeiture on original charges of unauthorized use of a motor vehicle and theft, in custody on $25,000 bond.

• Kris Lee Box, 47, Rockdale, possession of a controlled substance (crack cocaine), subject was already in jail on traffic warrants when the additional charge was filed. Harris said two other drug charges are pending.

Accidents

No serious injuries were reported in five wrecks investigated by police during the week.

A pickup operated by Michael Tindle of Rockdale was in collision with a parked pickup owned by Ruben Alvarez of Houston at 3 p.m. March 10 on Murray Avenue near Tiger Field. Damages estimates were not available.

Vehicles operated by Jacqueline Morago of Thorndale and Romanita Juarez of Rockdale were in collision at 7:58 a.m. Thursday in front of Rockdale High School. Damage estimates were not available.

Moderate damage was reported in a 6:18 p.m. Saturday one-vehicle accident on Bushdale Road when a vehicle went through a fence. Police said the driver was Victoria Drake of Rockdale.

Vehicles operated by Porfirio Rocha of Mesquite and Dana Skillman of Tyler were in collision at 5:50 p.m. Sunday in the Texas Burger/Subway parking lot. Damage estimates were not available.

Pickups driven by Frank Surovik and Adrianna Capetillo, both of Rockdale, were in collision at 2:27 p.m. Monday in the Napa parking lot. Damage estimates were not available.

Citations

Police issued 68 traffic citations during the past week, includig 41 for speeding.
