Job force rapidly ramping down as ‘commissioning phase’ gets under way

The installation of sophisticated anti-pollution equipment at Luminant’s Sandow Power Plant Unit 4 is complete and the number of temporary employees on that job is rapidly falling.

A Census Bureau representative is at City Hall from 1 to 4 p.m. each Tuesday, Wednesday and Friday to answer questions for local residents.
Also, the Bureau is offering temporary jobs which pay between $8 and $24 per hour plus work-related mileage.

Alcoa confirms land talks with Brazos River
Authority says it will not use eminent domain
A lcoa this week conf irmed that it is talking about the potential purchase of 35,000 acres of land for a Brazos River Authority (BRA) water project.

Milano tunes up for monthly Opry program
The monthly Milano Opry, featuring area pickers and grinners, kicks off at 6 p.m. Saturday at the Milano Civic Center.
Doors open at 6 p.m. and show starts at 7.
