Fleming to headline Milano Opry

Paula Fleming of Kempner will headline this month’s Milano Opry to be held at 7 p.m. Saturday, March 20 at the Milano Civic Center. Doors open at 6 p.m. and tickets are $5 each. Special guests will be A.T. Shuffield of Ben Arnold and Bobby Mikulin of Somerville.

House band members are Billy Barnett, Glenn Schneider, Larry Rochelle, Johnny Towslee, John Clark Towslee, Paul Schlesinger and Lynn Martin. Concessions w ill be prov ided by the Bailey Bank Building Committee. Come early, eat and enjoy a “big show in a small town.”

The annual City of Milano Easter Egg Hunt is set for 10 a.m. Saturday, April 3 at the Charlie Martin City Park. There will be two divisions: 1-5 years old and 6-10 years old. Each child will receive a prize and refreshments will be served.

Donations are needed for the annual Milano Volunteer Fire Department Ladies Auxiliary garage sale set for April 29-30 and May 1 at the Milano Civic Center/Fire Station. I hope all students, parents and Milano ISD faculty are enjoying their spring break. There are not many weeks left in this school year.

Congratulations to the newly elected 2010-11 Milano High School varsit y cheerleaders. They are: Carol Ann Grosshans, Stephanie Philpott, Hunter Gage, Hayleigh Lagrone, Allyson Steinbecker, Brianna Roth, Darian Hinostroza, Kodie Jo Sexton and Kelly Jo Wadlington.

Milano High School’s One-Act Play cast and crew will compete in zone contest on Tuesday, March 23 at the Yoe High School Performing Arts Center in Cameron. Break a leg.

Happy 2nd birthday to granddaughter Hannah Kay on March 19.
