Jones makes Texas State Dean’s list

Jones Jones SAN MARCOS–Miranda Jones was named to the Dean’s List at Texas State University for the Fall 2009 semester. Jones compiled a 3.80 GPA to receive the honor.

Miranda, daughter of S tephen a nd Kim Jones of Rockdale, is a 2006 Milano High School graduate and is pursuing a degree in Elementary Education (K-4).

St. Paul school opens 2010-11 pre-registration

THORNDALE–Pre-registration for the 2010-11 school year will open to the public at 8:30 a.m. Monday, March 22 at St. Paul Lutheran School. Registration forms and information are available through the school office at 101 N. Third Street in Thorndale, according to principal Cindy Melcher. You may also contact the school at 898-2711.

St. Paul Lutheran School is a fully accredited school at both the state and national level.

“We offer a solid academic program for grades PK3 through eighth grade that integrates the Christian faith on a daily basis,” Melcher said. “We also have a band program, a full sports program for fifth through eighth graders, Spanish in the upper grades, drama and music. The school is a well established part of the community with a 120 year history of making an impact in the lives of families in the area.”

Reading club accepting scholarship paperwork

Applications are now available for the annual Bootsie Peebles Memorial Scholarship, awarded by the Linwood Acres Garden Club.

Entry forms are available at The Reporter, in the RHS counselors’ office or by calling Elizabeth Holloway at 446-2168.

Deadline to apply is Friday, April 16. Applicants must be pursuing a career in a field related to medicine

“Age is not a factor for eligibility,” Holloway said. “Seniors in high school or adults returning to school are encouraged to apply.”
