Vietnam Memorial Wall replica will be in Taylor

“The Wall That Heals,” the Vietnam Memorial Wall is coming to Taylor.

This half-sized replica of the original wall that is located in Washington D.C., w ill be on display in Taylor for a four-day period starting Thursday, March 25.

This is the only appearance of this wall scheduled for Texas this year.

The wall will be placed at the corner of Main Street and Mallard Lane in the grassy area in front of Johns Community Hospital. Parking will be available at the former Walmart parking lot.

Normal hours of operation, with access to the traveling visitor’s center will be 8:30 a.m. to 6 p.m. daily, Thursday through Sunday.

Access to the wall will be available 24 hours per day but not to the traveling visitor’s center.

Ceremony

At 7 p.m. Saturday, a ceremony honoring the wall, the soldiers whose names are inscribed, and all present and former military members will be held, including a candlelight vigil.

This program w ill include special guest speakers, participation by the Texas Association of Vietnam Veterans. The public is welcome to come and participate.
