Banquet, clean up day show volunteer spiritWe had a great week with people working together and that is something we do well in Rockdale. The Chamber Banquet was held on Thursday. We had so many people come to set up and take down for the banquet that it was easy for everyone.
The decorations were wonderful, thanks to Cindy Jerman and the Chamber Ambassadors. The food was exceptional thanks to A Touch of Elegance, owner Terry Sandoval. Attendance was high and the atmosphere was upbeat. Someone made the comment that there was such a positive energy in the room, like everyone was there to have a good time. And we did.
I have had 10 years at the Chamber and I thank those who commemorated that.
Our winners were very deserving because they work so hard to make this a great town.
On the City Wide Clean Up Day Saturday, the city and the County provided 10 big dumpsters and by the end of the day they were all filled.
This was through the efforts of 14 volunteers who carried about 30 loads of trash and limbs and many individuals bringing their own trash. It was a great day and we all felt good at the end of that day.
Thanks to Tom Fisher, Joyce Dalley, Toby Johnson, John and Sharon Shoemake, Jace Tarver, Enrique Torres, Barkley Alford, John Urbanek, Kayla LaRocca, Fernando Gonzalez, Deborah and Bob Stephens, and yours truly, we started the cleanup of Rockdale.
I say “started” because there is still a lot that needs to be done. But we have to start somewhere and I hope you will continue that in your own business and home. This is a great town but it needs some cleaning up.
