Hot check roundup has April 16 deadline

CAMERON—The Milam County Prosecutor’s office is giving persons mentioned in current hot check warrants two weeks before grand jury action.

“We have outstanding warrants for theft by check on a number of persons,” Kim Fitzgerald of the prosecutor’s office, said.

“Those persons have until April 16 to call our office at 254- 697-7013 to arrange restitution payment and get the charges dropped,” she said.

“If this does not happen, offi- cers will start tracking down folks and arresting them,” Fitzgerald said.

“We prosecute cases involving checks written for amounts up to $1,500,” she said. “Those convicted of such charges can face up to one year in jail and $4,000 in fines.”

She listed current theft by check open warrants as follows:
