Let spring’s promise lead you to work!

As we enter this most wonderful time of the year called spring, I am so happy to be right here in Rockdale. Part of that is because of the beauty that surrounds us at this time of the year in our wildflowers and beautiful scenery.

But I’ll give you some insight of it’s strengths. We have a supportive town which is ready to jump in and help those in need. We have a good business climate of caring owners who want this town to prosper. We have good people who work hard.

If you have not gotten hooked up in Rockdale and you would like to now is your chance to do just that.

So during this most beautiful time of the year get out and take in not only the beauty of the scenery but the beauty of the caring people of Rockdale.

Ribbon cutting

We had a ribbon cutting last week for The Rockdale Kidney Center, located on Josie Street behind the old Walmart. It is a fabulous facility and something of which Rockdale can be proud. The facility is state of the art, the doctors and nurses are very caring and the staff is ready to help. Call them at 446- 5401 for more information.

Census forms

Have you filled out your census form? Even though the filing date has passed it is not too late to get yours sent in. It is important to have the numbers counted for our area to help us with future funding for the city. So take yours out and fill it out. Now is your chance to help Rockdale with your count.

Busy month

This month is filled. The Thursday, Friday, and Saturday is the Longhorn Show held at Rockdale Fair Park. Go out and see these majestic animals.

On Saturday, March 10 is the MARC Run, to raise funds for the MARC Center.

Relay for Life is on Friday, April 16 and 17 at the RHS Football Stadium. And it is not too late to get involved with that, call Marie Bakken at the Rockdale Reporter at 446-5838 and I know she’ll welcome your help.

On April 24 is the Dewberry Jam 5K, sponsored by Alpha Tau Delta.

Town Hall meeting

On Monday, April 19 a Town Hall Meeting is scheduled to discuss the upcoming vote about the half-cent sales tax being moved from the Rockdale Hospital District to be used for Economic Development. See page 2A for more information.
