Southern Plainsmen to sing at Milano FBC

MILANO—The Southern Plainsmen Quartet will be in concer t at t he First Bapt ist Church in Milano at 11 a.m. Sunday, April 25, Dave Lucas, pastor, has announced. “The public is welcome,” he said.

The Southern Plainsmen have the distinction of being named Louisiana’s Goodwill Ambassadors,” Rev. Lucas said. “From Hornbeck, Louisiana, they have been delighting audiences and lif t ing spir its f rom coast to coast for more than 30 years.”

New Hope Baptist All Ministries Day

New Hope Missionary Baptist Church, 327 East Third Avenue in Rockdale, will hold its annual A ll Ministries Day at 3 p.m. Sunday, April 25, according to an announcement by Freddie Robertson,

Guests for the event will be Pastor Joe Montgomer y and the congregations of St. Paul Missionary Baptist Church of Hearne, Jerusalem Missionary Baptist Church of Caldwell and Zion Hill Missionar y Baptist Church of Gause.

The public is invited.

National Prayer Day observance set May 6

Meadowbrook Baptist Church will host a National Day of P rayer brea k fa st on Thu r sday, May 6 from 7 until 8 a.m., according to Rev. Rick Hertless, pastor.

Meadowbrook’s sanctuary will be open for prayer from 7 a.m. until 7 p.m.

“The community is invited to come pray for our nation in the areas of families, churches, educ at ion, business, media, military and government,” Rev. Hertless said.

Men’s breakfast set Tuesday at St. John’s

A community men’s Christian fellowship breakfast is held from 7 to 8 a.m. each second Tuesday, rotating between several local churches. Purpose is to bring men of the community together for Christian fellowship.

Next breakfast will be April 13 at St. John’s United Methodist Church fellowship hall. All men of the community are invited.

Ballew will speak to Aglow Thursday

Rockdale Aglow Commun Lighthouse will meet at 7 p.m. Thursday, April 8 at the Rockdale General Store meeting room where guest speaker will be Kelley Ballew.

The speaker was active in churches he attended as a youth and as a young man, and began teaching the Word of God to you ng chi ld ren in his ea rly 20’s, then actively ministered to young adults.

He was licensed and ordained n 2009 and was pastor of the Salty Community Church. He has visited several churches as guest speaker. Aglow Lighthouse spokesperson Betty Amerson said, “Kelley is known to the people who know him as a person ‘who tells it like it is’.”

Ballew and his wife Annette both work and suppor t each other in the ministry. Kelley is employed by the City of Austin as a utility process consultant.
