Family deals with loss of loving patriarch

Last week our family lost the patriarch of our family, better known as Jimmy Doss.

Jimmy was 85. He was a role model to his grandchildren and his great grandchildren were the light of his world. The stories the family could tell about Jimmy would fill a book because he was always saying something, doing something, or not doing something that made us all laugh. Yes, he did keep things going.

Right up to the end he could beat anyone in dominoes, although grandson Derek was being trained to learn the tricks and even beat Pop once or twice.

As poor health came on him he let down a bit but we still had many “Pop” stories. Thinking about this man that became a part of my life as my second father, I am thankful that he was who he was. He made my family what it is today, always ready to help and loving us no matter what.

My three children were so close to Jimmy, which is wonderful, but so hard once he’s gone.

As we move forward with that void in our life we know that he is gone but we will always have those stories and that love that he gave us.

We were blessed to have him in our lives and we continue to be blessed with the legacy he left behind through his children, grandchildren and greatgrandchildren. We love you, Pop.

Town Hall meeting

On Monday, a Town Hall Meeting is scheduled to discuss the upcoming vote about the half-cent sales tax being moved from the Rockdale Hospital District to be used for Economic Development.

Until next time I leave you with this: The more a man knows, the more he forgives.
