Prison term returned for sex assault
A 27-year-old Rockdale man received a five-year prison term last week in 20th District Clerk on an aggravated sexual assault of a child charge.
Prosecutor Kerry Spears said Albelardo Sayago Hernandez pleaded guilt y to the charge before District Judge Ed Magre.

‘Slow motion’ chase of tractor driver ends with charges
In what may have been the slowest vehicular chase in Rockdale history, a 46-year-old man was arrested Monday night after he was apprehended on a tractor.

‘Don’t trust Trustnet,’ sheriff warns
A scammer pretending to represent Walmart, Sears and other well-known stores is attempting to lure Milam County residents into sending them money.
Sheriff David Greene says it’s an old-well-known gimmick, “Trustnet Financial Co.” sends a fake check, stating the person has won a prize-winning payout. Full Story

Troopers called to area crashes
State troopers reported no serious injuries in several crashes they investigated during the past week on Rockdale-area roads.
Trooper Erik Gaston said a three-vehicle accident on US 79 two miles east of Rockdale at 11:05 a.m. Saturday involved two motorcycles and a car.
He listed the motorcyclists as Samuel Polasek, 51, of Caldwell and Jason Rose of Hearne. Full Story
