Scholarship deadlines approaching at RHS

Deadlines for many scholarships available for Rockdale High School students are looming, some as soon as next month.

Kathie Bowermon, counselor, listed scholarships, qualifications and deadlines as follows:

• Alma Regenbrecht Scholarship, attending four-year college or university, May 4.

• Alpha Tau Delta, general, May 3.

• Angelo State University Carr ROTC Scholarship, participation in the ROTC program at Angelo State, May 1.

• Blue & Gold Scholarship, general, May 7.

• Thomas & Rebecca Caswell, attend University of Texas, excel in music, academics, leadership and community service, April 16.

• Chuck Betchan Athletic Scholarship, athlete at RHS, April 19.

• Petie & Tommie Clark Memorial Scholarship, military service, May 7.

• Congressional Art Competition, based on submitted artwork, April 30.

• Crown Garden Club, major in horticulture or related field, April 15.

• Delta Psi Gamma-Lambda Psi, female majoring in education, April 20

• Erin Crowley-McDonald’s Scholarship, academic plus documented community service, April 26.

• Germaine Dawson Athletic Scholarship, athlete at RHS, April 19.

• Hochheim Prairie Scholarship/ Milam Insurance Agency, parent and/or guardian must be a client, April 30.

• Howard Payne University Merit, scholarships for academic and/or SAT/ACT scores, no deadline listed.

• Interquest “Bucky” Memorial Scholarship, veterinary medicine or animal behavior major, April 30.

• Knights of Columbus, child of council member, May 3.

• Louise Hale Sessions Memorial Scholarship/Matinee Musical Club, active in music and plan to continue participation in some type of music program, April 30.

• Milam County TAMU Mother’s Club, attending Texas A&M in Fall 2010, drawing of recepient, April 30.

• National Sorghum Challenge Scholarship, major agriculturally based, May 31.

• Philip Murray Memorial Scholarship, B or higher average and child of a member of the Local Unions affliciated with the Existence and Education Council, April 15.

• Richards Memorial Auxiliary Scholarship, major in health care, May 7.

• Rockdale Athletic Booster Club, athlete at RHS, April 19.

• Rockdale Fair Association, 4-H or FFA member and exhibited livestock at the Fair, April 16.

• Rockdale Noon Lions Club, general, April 30.

• Rockdale PTO, general, May 21.

• Rockdale Tennis Association, played tennis for RHS for at least two years, April 23.

• Taylor-Brown Education Fund, 2.5 GPA or higher, income based on no higher than $40,000, essay, April 30.

• Texas A&M Soil & Crop Sciences Department, major agronomy or plant & environmental soil science, contact TAMU.

• Thursday Reading Club Bootsie Peebles Memorial Medical Scholarship, major medical related field, April 16.
