Meeting eyes development ballot initiative

TOWN HALL sales tax being moved from the Rockdale Hospital District to be used for economic

Monday, April 19 a Town Hall Meeting has been set for 6:30 p.m. Monday, April 19 at the Patterson Civic Center to discuss the upcoming vote about the half-cent development.

Rockdale Hospital District directors have agreed to give up the half-cent sales tax they have collected since 1993. The Municipal Development District board, formed in a vote last May, will use the funds to try and recruit businesses to town.

“Come out with your questions, and your input as we discuss the issue,” said Denice Doss, spokesperson. “All Rockdale citizens are invited to attend. This meeting will give the full idea of what the vote will mean to you.”

The burn ban for Milam County has been lifted. Burning is always prohibited in the county's municipalities.
