Hartman

Graveside services for Joy Bartlett Hartman, 83, of Gatesville, formerly of Rockdale, were held Friday, April 9, 2010, at Corn Hill Cemetery near Jarrell. Mrs. Hartman died Wednesday, April 7, at Weston Inn Health Center in Temple.

A Gatesville resident for the past six years, she was born Aug. 15, 1926, in Milam County to Fred J. and Adel (Baird) Bartlett.

She married Leo Hartman on July 16, 2004, in Gatesville.

Mrs. Har tman was a graduate of Rockdale High School and had worked as a bank teller in the Houston area for 37 years. Her last employer was Texas Commerce Bank in Houston.

She was preceded in death by her parents; a sister, Betty Robbins; a niece, Carol Sanders; and two brothers-in-law, Jim Robbins and Rev. Paul Carroll.

Survivors are her husband, Leo Hartman of Gatesville; a brother, Jim Bartlett and wife Mary Jane of San Angelo; two sisters, Virginia Darnell Carroll, Melba Ressel and husband Bob, all of Rockdale; and a number of nieces and nephews, including Becky Gifford, Todd Ressel, Robert Bartlett, Mark Bartlett and Karen Bartlett; also, many greatnieces and nephews.

Pallbearers were Todd Ressel, Robert Bartlett, Jess Meadors, Aaron Gifford, Landon Gifford and LaVeldis Benkendorfer.

Honorary pallbearers were Mark Bartlett, Austin Gifford, Nicholas Gifford, Hunter Lehmann, Mason Meadors and Carter Meadors.

The burn ban for Milam County has been lifted. Burning is always prohibited in the county's municipalities.
