Kendle

LOS ANGELES, CA—Funeral services for Alquim “Al” Levann Kendle, 88, were held March 31, 2010, at Angelus Funeral Home. Mr. Kendle died March 26.

He was born Nov. 12, 1921, in Rockdale to Henry and Pearl Crayton Kendle.

He graduated from Aycock High School, then moved to California where he met Ruth Carter. They were married for 58 years before she preceded him in death in 2006.

Mr. Kendle was also preceded in death by brothers Elbridge, Henry, Felix and Bill; and a sister, Bernice.

He attended Los Angeles City College and earned his undergraduate degree at Cal State-Los Angles.

Mr. Kendle worked for Los Angles County for more than three decades and attained the position of county deputy purchasing agent.

He was a member of 100 Black Men.

Survivors include his daughter, Jan Ruth Kendle of Seattle, Washington; a sister, Clarice Yarbrough of Los Angeles; a brother, George Kendle of Austin, numerous cousins, nephews, nieces and other relatives.
