Mullinax

CAMERON—Funeral services for Alvin Lee Mullinax, 86, of Cameron were held Friday, April 9, 2010, at Marek-Burns-Laywell Funeral Home with Rev. Bill Angel and Rev. Karl Thames officiating. Burial followed in Oak Hill Cemetery. Mr. Mullinax died Monday, April 5, in a Temple assisted-living center.

He was born Aug. 14, 1923, in Cameron to Albert Lee and Lois Ellen (Westbrook) Mullinax.

Mr. Mullinax was a World War II veteran, serving in the Army Air Force.

He married Willie B. Elliott on March 17, 1946.

Mr. Mullinax retired from the U.S. Post Office after more than 34 years of service.

He was a member of First Christian Church in Cameron and the American Legion and had served on the board of the Salem-Elm Ridge Water Supply Corp.

He was preceded in death by two sisters, Ruth Martin and Evelyn Needham.

Survivors include his wife, Willie B. Mullinax of Cameron; a son, Alva Ray Mullinax and wife Donna of Concord, NC; a daughter, Deandra Lawrence and husband David of Taylor; three sisters, Doris Buchanan of Fort Worth, Shirley Shoemaker and husband Loyd of Bowie, Peggy Jackson and husband Chuck of Coeur d’ Alene, ID; and four grandchildren, Melissa Lawrence of Morgans Point, Brian Lawrence and wife Erica of Round Rock, Dean Liszt and husband Kory of Fredericksburg, VA, Clint Mullinax of Concord, NC.

Memorials may be made to First Christian Church in Cameron.
