Support local businesses by shopping here

As 2010 marches on and spring is here I am enjoying the beautiful sights of wild flowers and green landscapes everywhere. The rains of winter have set us up for this most beautiful time. Riding through the country side again reminds me of how much I like living in this area and how blessed we are with the beauty that surrounds us.

There is no place prettier than Rockdale, Texas in the springtime.

We’re Jammin’

This Saturday is the Dewberry Jam, sponsored by Alpha Tau Delta. The sorority is so good to support projects in Rockdale and that is what the proceeds from the run goes to each year.

Preregistration will be held on Friday, April 23 at Hogan Hall at the Chamber. You can register then from 8-5 and pick up your packets. See page 1A for story.

Early voting

Early voting begins on Monday, April 23 for the city election as well as the vote on the 1 /2 cents sales tax. If you have questions about the issue please call the Chamber or the city.

Support local business

I want to take this opportunity to remind Rockdale how important it is to support our local businesses. We have had a lot of ups and downs in the last two years and we need everyone to rally and Shop Rockdale.

There is so much that you do not have to go out of town for because we have it right here. Give our local businesses a chance and go in and see what they carry.

We all need to support each other to make it through this economic time.

Until next time I leave you with this: The art of being wise is knowing what to overlook.
