High school baseball field renovation was set in motion by Rockdale ISD school board members Monday, culminating discussions on the matter stretching back nine months.

Manor’s Acevedo new band director
Adrian Acevedo, band director at Manor High School for the past six years, has been named the new director of the Rockdale ISD’s Big Blue Band.
School trustees unanimously voted to hire Acevedo in an executive session at the conclusion of a lengthy board meeting on Monday (see separate story). Full Story

Early voting for city, sales tax elections starts Monday
Early voting gets under way Monday at City Hall for a complex set of May 8 city elections.
Voters will choose a new mayor and east ward council member in contested races and will also decide a contested race between an incumbent west ward councilman and a challenger.

Ground broken on water pipeline to serve Travis County entities
MANOR—Cross County Water Supply Corporation, a member-owned, nonprofi t organization, has broken ground on its 52-mile pipeline project.
The pipeline will carry water from a Simsboro Aquifer tap in Burleson County to eastern Travis County. Full Story
Lace ‘em up for 11th Dewberry Jam 5K run
The 11th Annual Rockdale Dewberry Jam 5K will be held at 8 a.m. Saturday at Veterans Memorial Park, corner of Brazos and Murray Streets.
Alpha Tau Delta Sorority, Luminant and Dixie Equipment are event sponsors. The annual run has raised in excess of $60,000 for improvements at Veterans Park and Sumuel Park and other community projects. Full Story
