WELCOME TO ‘ROCK’-DALE Rockdale Volu nteer Fire Department, including Travis Fisher, had one of its more interesting calls just after 1 p.m. Friday when a gravel truck accidently dumped its load onto US 79 in front of Super Walmart. “It wasn’t a wreck,” Fire Chief Warren Matous said. “There was a malfunction in the truck and it scattered the gravel all over the highway.” Firefighters directed traffic while city crews, using front-end loaders, cleaned up the gravel. Rockdale police also responded. Traffic was slowed for about an hour.
