With the recent success of the Rockdale track team, it makes you wonder how much better the thinclads would be if Kiera Walton was still on the roster.
For those who don’t remember, Walton was a freshman sensation for the Lady Tigers, earning high point honors at the 2008 Rockdale Relays and then qualifying for regionals in the triple jump and high jump. Full Story

The Tigers should take caution, Region III is known as a speed trap—on the track of course.

Lady Tigers keeping sharp with warm-up contests
Bye round keeps Huffman-Hargrave on the horizon
While waiting on their area playoff matchup with Huffman- Hargrave next week, the Rockdale Lady Tigers kept themselves tuned up by facing a couple of the areas’ playoff teams.
In a TAKS Test shortened game, Thorndale trimmed the Lady Tigers 4-3 on Monday afternoon after putting up two runs in the top of the fourth in a five inning contest. Full Story

Bulldogs outscore Thrall, Bartlett 39-2
Thorndale locks up district championship
Perhaps sharpening their chops before the state playoffs begin, the Thorndale Bulldogs broke out the whipping sticks and destroyed their final two district opponents by the combined score of 39-2.
The Bulldogs throttled Thrall 22-1 on Friday and then turned around and bounced Bartlett 17-1 on Monday in the District 26A finale. Full Story
Eagles just miss out on playoffs after split games
Loss to second place Granger ends post season hopes
Milano needed to win its last district game and hope Thrall would lose to Holland on Monday night to reach the postseason.
Neither part of that equation happened and so came the end of the Eagles’ baseball season.

Old friend Shiner first up Friday in Giddings
The Thorndale Lady Dogs are set to get their postseason run underway and are set to play Shiner in the first round of the state playoffs.
The bi-district game is scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday in Giddings. Shiner finished second in District 28A behind No. 18 Flatonia. Full Story
