Lady Dogs ready for playoff run

Reporter/Ken Esten Cooke The Thorndale Lady Dogs are set to get their postseason run underway and are set to play Shiner in the first round of the state playoffs.

The bi-district game is scheduled for 7 p.m. Friday in Giddings. Shiner finished second in District 28A behind No. 18 Flatonia.

The winner of the Thorndale- Shiner game will face off against 25A champion Mart, the team that knocked the Lady Dogs out of the postseason last year in the regional quarterfinals.

The Lady Dogs finished third in the final 27A standings behind champion Thrall and second place Granger.

Thrall has a first round bye and Granger will face off against 28A third place team Ganado at 7:30 p.m. Friday in Brenham.

Thorndale managed to get one warm up game under its belt Monday at Milam County neighbor Rockdale.

PAW PRINTS— Lady Bulldogs Jordan Heine and Kara Niemtschk were named Academic All-State by the Texas Association of Basketball Coaches.
