Sheriff David Greene is asking Milam County residents to assist him in the recent break-up of a theft ring in Milam County.
Greene said investigators are receiving information that there have been items sold by Paul Joseph Lara, Raymond Lara and Eugenio Hernandez, to citizens in Milam County. Full Story
Mayoral, council seats up for grabs Saturday
Rockdale voters will go to the polls Saturday to decide the fate of three contested city council races and whether to bring together all phases of a halfcent sales tax, being collected for economic development, under one entity.
Voting hours are 7 a.m. to 7 p.m. at City Hall.
Early voting ended Tuesday with 276 persons casting their votes. Full Story

Mayfest draws 1,000 to KC Hall
After football games and the fair, it’s probably Rockdale’s biggest annual event.
St. Joseph’s Catholic Church held its annual Mayfest Sunday at the KC Hall with a comeand go crowd estimated at well over 1,000 participating on a perfect spring day. Full Story
‘Doors’ exhibit in Austin featuring art of Rockdale graduate Kennard
An exhibit of paintings entitled “Doors” will be held May 8 through June 5 at studio2gallery in Austin, featuring the art of Mary Jo Kederis Kennard, a 1955 graduate of Rockdale High School.
“Doors” is a national juried exhibit of selected artists, and Mrs. Kennard is the feature artist. Full Story

$11,ooo raised for White on Saturday
A fund-raiser for one of Rockdale High School’s most beloved athletes ever, now fighting cancer, raised about $11,000 on Saturday.
Garry White was a key member of the 1976 Tiger state championship football team and the 1977 state track champions.
He is a 1977 RHS graduate and has been diagnosed with colon and liver cancer. Full Story
