Sixth-grade band wins ‘best in class,’ Sweepstakes

Rockdale Junior-High School’s sixth-grade band won Best in Class, sweepstakes awards at recent competition at Sealy. Rockdale Junior-High School’s sixth-grade band won Best in Class, sweepstakes awards at recent competition at Sealy. The Rockdale Junior-High School sixth grade band recently earned a Sweepstakes Award in concert and sight reading during a competition in Sealy, according to Lance Walker, director.

“The band also earned a best in class award,” Walker said.

“Our students also competed individually in a solo competition,” he said. “Thirty one made a first division (Superior) on their solos.”

Walker said 100 percent of the sixth graders that learned a solo earned a first division.

He listed Division I rankings:
